When ChatGPT Is Asked Who Does What You Do
Try it now. Open ChatGPT and ask for the best business like yours in your city. Ask Perplexity the same thing. Then search Google and read the AI answer at the top. Is your business there? If it is, is the description right?
Search changed while you weren't looking
More people now ask an AI assistant for a recommendation before they ever see a list of links. The assistant reads the web, picks a few businesses and explains why. If it can't work out what you offer, where and for how much, it recommends someone it can.
What AI answer engines need
The same facts a good receptionist would give, in a form a machine can read without guessing:
- Who you are and what you offer, in plain sentences on pages crawlers can read. PDFs and text inside images are often skipped.
- Structured data (JSON-LD) for your business, services, prices, FAQs and people, so each fact is labelled.
- An llms.txt file: a plain summary of your site written for language models, linking your most important pages.
- Answers to the questions customers ask, each short enough to quote.
- The same facts everywhere, from your site to your Google Business Profile and directories, so the details agree.
What I do
- Audit how ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google's AI describe you today, and list what's missing or wrong.
- Fix robots rules and the sitemap so crawlers can reach the pages you want read.
- Generate llms.txt and llms-full.txt from your content, regenerated on every build so they never go stale.
- Add JSON-LD for your business, services, prices, FAQs and people.
- Rewrite key pages so each common question has a clear answer an assistant can quote.
This site is the example
jedshock.com generates its sitemap, llms.txt and structured data from its own content at build time, including every gig and proposal on this page. It's the same setup I build for clients.
No promises I can't keep
Nobody controls what an AI model says, and anyone who guarantees you'll be the top recommendation is guessing. What I can do is make the facts about your business easy to find, easy to read and consistent everywhere, which is what these systems rely on when they decide who to mention.
If a machine can't tell what you do, it can't recommend you.
What it costs
AI Search Optimization (GEO + AEO) starts at $130 for an audit of your site and its AI answers plus llms.txt, robots and sitemap fixes, in three days. JSON-LD for services, FAQs and people, with five answer-ready pages, comes with the $380 package.
