Inventory & Barcode System
I will build an inventory system with barcode scanning and low stock alerts

About this gig
Typing products in by hand is slow, and every typo becomes a stock count that doesn't match.
I build inventory systems where a phone camera is the scanner. Scan a barcode and the product's name, photo and details fill in from open product databases where they exist. Products that aren't listed get entered once, and every scan after that is instant. Stock moves with each sale, purchase and transfer, and low stock triggers an alert before you run out.
What you get:
- Product catalogue with variants, prices and photos
- Barcode scanning with phone cameras, USB or Bluetooth scanners
- Stock in, out, adjustments and full movement history
- Branches, warehouses and transfers between them
- A point-of-sale screen and supplier purchase orders
- Low stock alerts and reorder lists on WhatsApp or Telegram
Barcode scanning with Open Food Facts lookup and multi-branch stock are part of WeSelling, the business operating system I founded, and I built an equipment inventory dashboard for a construction company.
Tell me what you sell, how many products and branches you have, and how you count stock today.
Use cases
Supermarkets and pharmacies
Fast scanning at receiving and sale, with expiry tracking.
Fashion and beauty
Variants by size and colour, with low-stock alerts per variant.
Wholesale and distribution
Bulk units, cartons and per-customer pricing.
Restaurants
Ingredient stock drawn down by recipe as dishes sell.
Equipment rental
Items checked out and in, with condition and location.
Multi-branch retail
Transfers between branches with a full trail.
Stock counts
Phone-based cycle counts that reconcile against the system.
Online and offline
One stock level shared by the shop, the website and WhatsApp orders.
What changes
Today
- Stock counts happen on paper and never match the till
- Staff type product names and prices by hand, each a little differently
- You find out a best-seller is gone when a customer asks for it
- Stock disappears between branches with no trail
After
- Barcode scanning with any phone camera, no special hardware
- Product details pulled from open product databases where they exist
- Stock moves with every sale, purchase, transfer and adjustment
- Low stock alerts and reorder lists on WhatsApp or Telegram
How it works
- 01Scan the barcode
- 02Product details fill in
- 03Sale or purchase recorded
- 04Stock level updates
- 05Low stock alert

Questions, answered
Do I need a barcode scanner?
Any modern phone camera works. USB and Bluetooth scanners work too if you already have them.
What if a product isn't in any database?
Staff enter it once, with a photo, and every scan after that fills it in. Many locally made products need this step.
Can it sync with Shopify or WooCommerce?
Yes. In the Scale package stock syncs both ways, so you don't sell what you don't have.
Who owns the code and accounts when we finish?
You do. Code goes to your repository, and services run on accounts in your name, so you are never locked to me. I hand over logins, keys and a short guide.
What if my project doesn't fit a package?
Send a message describing what you need. I reply with a custom offer priced to the actual scope, often after a short call.
